M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering is a postgraduate electrical engineering program offering advanced specialization in power systems. The program covers related specialities such as System Analysis of Power, Planning of Stability Evaluations, Forecasting and Reliability, Power Electronics and Drives, High Voltage DC Transmission, Industrial Electronics and Controls, Wind and Solar Energy Electric Conversion System etc.

M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering: What is it About?

M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering course curriculum covers both theoretical and practical aspects of power systems such as dynamics, power system analysis, operations, control, planning, reliability and protection, and also security, power quality and power system transients.The course trains students in understanding and operation of micro- processors and micro controllers which form a crucial part of the evolving power system technology. M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering course familiarizes students with processes of analysing, developing, designing and evaluating high-end power systems for managing a variety of challenging projects and research work.

M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering: Course Duration

The course is a 2- year full-time course consisting of 4 semesters. The first 2 semesters are common between all students pursuing the course, while the end semesters are for specializing in major and minor subjects.

M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering: Who Should Opt?

Eligible candidates with a keen interest in manufacturing and designing of power systems may go for this course. Also suited for the course are students interested in research work in the discipline.

M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering: Eligibility 

Candidates wishing to pursue M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering course need to have completed graduation from a recognized institute with a minimum aggregate score of 45% - 50%, preferably with Power System Engineering as the subject of specialization at the level of graduation.

Candidates waiting for their final year exam results are welcome too.

M.Tech. Power Systems Engineering: Admission Process

Eligible candidates are required to qualify for the relevant entrance examination followed by a round of group discussion. Subsequently, qualifying candidates would need to go through additional rounds of personal interview as the final stage in the process of selection. The main entrance exams held in India for admission to the course is GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).

However, a few colleges also have their own entrance examinations and admission procedures in place for selecting and admitting candidates.
