Bachelor
of Arts [BA] (Tamil Literature) is a three year course. Eligibility for the
course is 10+2, intermediate cleared. It is an excellent preparation for
careers in teaching, media, and advertising, writing, and publishing; for
graduate or professional studies in Tamil Literature, communications, or law;
and for advancement in any field in which communication skills are important.

B.A Tamil Literature
Course programme caters to the needs of adults who aspire to enhance their
competence and knowledge levels in Tamil language and literature. Furthermore,
courses on linguistics and translation have been incorporated to suit local needs
of our bilingual society.
The language courses enhance students' understanding of linguistic concepts and
language discourse from a functional grammar perspective. The literature
courses offer an insight into a range of literary genres, periods and styles.
The programme is taught by qualified lecturers and renowned foreign
guest-lecturers.
Eligibility

The
basic eligibility for admission to the program is a pass in 10+2 examination
with Tamil Literature as one of the five subjects. Students from any stream of
education can apply for admission to this course.

10+2
education completed in any stream from a recognized educational Board.
·
A
minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2
level.
·
Proficiency
in Tamil.
Admission Process
The general process for
admission to the program is through a merit based cut off list. However, there
are a few universities like Banaras Hindu University, which conduct
an entrance test for admission to the program.
The
selection for admission to the program is merit based. For direct admission,
student must have scored the percentage declared in the cut off list. In case
of entrance test, the shortlist of candidates is prepared on the basis of
performance in entrance test and some weightage is also given to the marks
scored in 10+2 examination.
Most
institutes offering the course admit students based on performance in a
relevant entrance test, often followed by a round of personal interview,
wherein their general aptitude for the course is tested. Admission process
generally varies across colleges.
A few institutes also provide direct admission based on the candidate’s performance at the 10+2 level.
