LLB or Legum Baccalaureus is an undergraduate law degree which is a prerequisite for anyone who wants to enter the field of judiciary and law. The course is of 3 years and can only be pursued if you have already completed your graduation in any stream.

If you want to become a lawyer, advocate, law officer, law lecturer, or enter the judiciary system, then this is a compulsory course for you.LLB syllabus includes subjects such as Criminal Law, Family Law, International Law, etc., apart from seminars, moot court sessions, and internships. Hence, the curriculum is very interactive and interesting, which helps to develop problem-solving, communication skills and judgment skills.

LLB Admission usually takes place through entrance exams. But some universities like SRM university, IMS Noida, etc. take admission without any entrance exams. Forms have to be filled online on the official website, and you should meet the minimum entry requirements set by the university. 

LLB Eligibility

  • If you want to pursue law after Class XII, then you should have scored atleast 45% in Class XII and qualify the entrance test required for admission in courses like BA LLB, BCom LLB, BBA LLB, etc. which is 5 years.
  • If you are already a graduate (any stream and any course), then you simply can pursue LLB of 3 years through qualifying the required entrance exams. 
  • There is no age limit to pursue this LLB.

LLB Entrance Exams 2020-2021

There are a number of entrance exams for LLB courses which is given below:

  • TS LAWCET 2020: This exam is conducted by Osmania University for admission into LLB and integrated LLB courses across Telangana.
  • AP LAWCET 2020: This exam is conducted by Sri Krishnadevarava University for admission into LLB and integrated LLB courses across Andhra Pradesh.
  • SET SLAT 2020: SET  is Symbiosis Entrance Test conducted by Symbiosys Examination for admissions in various UG and PG courses, including law.
  • DU LLB Entrance Exam 2020: This exam is conducted by Delhi University for admission in Dept. of Law.
  • MHT CET 2020: MHT CET 2020 is conducted by State Common Entrance Test Cell on behalf of Directorate of Technical Education for admission into various law courses including LLB across Maharashtra. How to prepare for Law Entrance Exams?
    • Preparation Time: It is important that you start preparing for these entrance exams at least one year in advance as they are not very easy.
    • Section-wise preparation by making a Study Plan: There are mainly three main sections in law exams: English Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Maths, Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning. Prepare for these sections individually by making a time table, so that you can cover all the syllabus on time, and practice well before the actual exam.
    • Mock Tests: Solving Mock Tests is very important as by this you get familiar with the type of questions and the exam pattern.
    • Study Material: It is important that you have the best study material with you. Ask your fellow friends and teachers about the latest books and materials.     • Healthy mind and body: It is important that you enjoy preparing for these entrance exams. Give time to leisure activities also. Go out and play, Go for a walk. Eat healthy. Try to sleep for 8 hours a day. 

      LLB: What is it About?

      • LLB qualification is Bachelor of Laws. This 3 years course is pursued by students who want to enter the rewarding field of law and judicial system. This course is divided into 6 semesters and includes subjects such as Family LawInternational LawTaxation LawTorts LawConstitutional LawBanking and Insurance LawHuman Rights LawInternational Economic Law etc. 
      • It’s latin name is Legum Baccalaureus.
      • LLB should be pursued full time only, as the Bar Council of India has only recognized this full-time degree only. You can also study part-time and through distance education different law course, but you won’t be eligible to argue in the court.
      • LLB Syllabus is formulated in a manner in most of the Indian Universities comprises of Seminars, Tutorial Work, Moot Courts, Practical Training Programs and Internships. Students are also given an opportunity to opt for their preferred specialization later during the course.
      • Various Law Specializations after doing LLB are: Criminal Law, Civil Law, Corporate or business Law, Cyber Law, Administrative Law, Labour Law, Intellectual and Patent Law, Constitutional Law, Constitutional Law, International Law, etc.
      • Major job options after LLB are: Lecturer, Law Officer, Paralegal, Junior Lawyer, Legal Advisor, etc.
      • All India Bar Examination(AIBE) is compulsory to clear to practice law in India. It occurs annually and 15th September 2020 is the tentative date for this exam. You cannot argue in court if you have not cleared this exam.
