The program teaches candidates about the ability to supervise, administer and direct the operations of a clinical biochemical genetics diagnostic laboratory, including technical proficiency and knowledge in quality control or quality assessment procedures.

Genetics covers the study of biology, heredity, the science of genes, and variation in living organisms. Genetics manage the atomic structure and function of genes, with gene behavior in the context of a cell as well as an organism (e.g. epigenetic and dominance), with examples of legacy from parent to posterity, and with gene appropriation, variety, and change in populations.Genetics is a discipline of biology which scientifically studies genes, heredity, and variations in living organisms. Subjects commonly granted under this degree are Cell Biology, Biostatistics, Microbial Genetics & Technology, Population Genetics, Gene Development, Genome Organization, Biochemistry, DNA Technology etc.

Candidate must have specific skills such as numeracy, logical thinking, and computing; attention to current issues and problems and ethical debates. Candidates should have teamwork, project management abilities and organizational skills, and also ability to understand complex scientific information and data. Applicants must have problem-solving, business awareness, self-reliance and initiative and strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must have the ability to integrate genetic and clinical information and understand the uses, interpretation, limitations and significance of specialized laboratory and clinical techniques.The study of Genetics has an extensive scope in the government and private sector. The M.Sc. genetics candidates may find jobs in the medical, agriculture sector and pharmaceutical industries and the research & development departments of government.

The applicants should have a bachelor’s degree under any registered University in respective subjects like Botany, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology and Biomedical Sciences in Science stream.
