M.Tech.
Thermal Engineering is a 2- year postgraduate course divided into 4 semesters,
each lasting a period of 6 months. The course involves real-time applications
of fluid flow and heat transfer in Thermal Energy Systems, Cryogenic
Engineering and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning etc.

Thermal Engineering: What is it About?
M.Tech.Thermal
Engineering is a postgraduate course involving- on an advanced level- concepts
of energy efficiency, renewable energy & environmental preservation, and
their entwinement with classical energy technologies and recently discovered
technologies.
Enrolled
candidates are trained in design, development, and simulation and to explore
new areas in Thermal Energy Systems and allied sciences. The first two
semesters of the course involve theoretical subjects & laboratory sessions,
while the third semester is about theory & project work and the fourth
semester focusses fully on project work.
Eligibility
for M.Tech. Thermal Engineering
Candidates
having qualified 10+2 from a recognized educational Board with Physics,
Chemistry & Math as main subjects and a Bachelor’s degree (B.E./ B. Tech)
in any of Mechanical, Automobile, and Aeronautical engineering, or equivalent
discipline, with a minimum aggregate score of 55% are eligible to apply for
M.Tech. Thermal Engineering course. This percentage criterion, however, may
vary across institutes.

Thermal Engineering: Admission Process
Eligible
students upon clearing the 10+2 qualification in Physics, Chemistry and Maths
with the minimum eligible score, are needed to qualify a relevant national-
level entrance exam such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced or other
State- level exams. Based on performance in such tests, and in rounds of group
discussion and personal interview, students are admitted to the course.
Upon clearing
the JEE Advanced, students are admitted to IITs and upon clearing the JEE Main
exam, they are admitted to other State-level engineering colleges. The exam
pattern of almost all the entrance exams held for admission to engineering
colleges is similar, with the 3 main sections included, viz. Physics,
Chemistry, and Mathematics.
