Bachelor in
Medical Laboratory Technology or BMLT is a 3-year undergraduate
course designed to equip eligible candidates with an advanced learning in both
routine and sophisticated laboratory diagnostic procedures. Aspiring candidates
need to have qualified the Senior Secondary Certificate (class XIIth)
Examination in the Science stream, with a minimum aggregate score of 50% (45%
for SC/ST candidates) or equivalent CGPA.
Candidates
are imparted:

learning in the laboratory exercise principles.

with the new advances in management of Laboratories, instrument-handling, etc.
·
leaning
in related practices such as standard protocols, laboratory investigations,
innovation, system, and such.

to become professional medical technologists who can perform tasks such as
testing, documenting, investigating, reporting, etc.
Such graduates
are hired in capacities such as R&D Contractual Lab Assistant, Junior
Technical Executive, Lab Medicine Technician, X-Ray Technician, Laboratory
Technician, System Analyst, Laboratory Technician, etc.
The average
tuition fee charged for the course in India ranges between INR 2,000 and 5 Lacs
for a span of 3 years, and the average monthly starting salary of a Lab
Technician ranges between INR 8,000 and 16,000. Lab Technologists are generally
paid higher than Lab Technicians.
Medical
technicians find employment in areas such as like hospitals, health care
clinics, medical pathology laboratories, research laboratories, urologists’
offices, etc.

Students

Eligibility for BMLT
Candidates
wishing to apply for the course need to fulfill the following eligibility
criteria
·
10+2
or equivalent qualification in the Science stream, completed from a recognized
educational Board.
·
A
minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2
level.
·
Physics,
Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics as the main subjects of
study at the 10+2 level.
·
Candidates
awaiting their Senior Secondary examinations’ results are also eligible to
apply on provisional basis.
