B.Sc. in Visual Communication is a 3-year full-time undergraduate course, the minimum eligibility for admission to which is the successful completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) qualification from a recognized educational board, with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.

Preferably, Electronics Media would be one of the main subjects at the 10+2 level. The program is spread over 3 years, divided into 6 semesters of 6months each.

B.Sc. in Visual Communication: What is it About?

Visual Communication, also called ‘Viscom’, provides eligible candidates a comprehensive and detailed exposure to creative fields of:

  • Writing

  • Graphic Editing
  • Photography
  • Film
  • Animation
  • Design, etc.

The course is best defined as a medium for conveyance of creative ideas and information in visual forms, i.e., something that can be read and/or looked at. Since it entirely depends on vision, the discipline relies on two-dimensional images.Major components of the course include:

  • human communication
  • graphic design
  • basics of advertising
  • photography
  • design
  • drawing
  • script writing
  • acting
  • copywriting, among others such.

Successful graduates of the course may also opt to specialise in:

  • media management
  • international media
  • television production
  • visual design
  • radio programming
  • media trends.

The course also most often includes the mandatory completion of an internship, of 6-8 week duration, in design or media-based organizations.

B.Sc. in Visual Communication: Who should opt?

Ideal candidates for the course would possess:

  • efficient communication skills.

  • creative imagination.
  • aptitude for team projects.

    Eligibility for B.Sc. in Visual Communication

    Listed below are the minimum criteria of eligibility that interested candidates need to fulfil in order to apply for the course.

    • 10+2 education completed in the Science stream from a recognized educational Board.

    • Physics, Chemistry, Math, English as the main subjects of study at the 10+2 level.
    • Preferably, Electronics Media as one of the main subjects at the 10+2 level.
    • A minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.

    B.Sc. in Visual Communication: Admission Process

    Most institutes offering the course admit students based on performance in a relevant entrance test. Admission process generally varies across colleges.

    A few institutes also provide direct admission based on the candidate’s performance at the 10+2 level.
