In this complete 3- Years’ Course Programme, the students can get to learn surgical medical science including Congenital Disorders, Tumors, Sports Injuries, Infections, treatment of Musculoskeletal Trauma, and much more degenerative diseases. The average course fee of MS Orthopedics depends upon the colleges and the universities. But it can scale between 10 to 60 Lakhs per annum. After the completion of MS Orthopedics the students can expect their salary upto 30 LPA. It is an initial salary figure. It can rise after the relevant experience in the specialization. To get admission in MS Orthopedics, the students have to clear entrance examinations conducted by various colleges and universities. Selection procedure is strictly followed on the basis of the marks in the respective entrance examination and Personal Interview. To pursue this course, the students must secure the MBBS degree – the minimum eligibility criteria for MS Orthopedics. It is a 3 Years’ Full Time Postgraduate course programme and students after passing out the same can go for more higher education in this field of Medical Science, Medical Surgery and especially Orthopedics. Further courses that can be obtained after MS Orthopedics are Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Exam in Orthopedics (DNB), Post Graduate Diploma in Orthopedics and PhD in Orthopedics. It will gather more skills and supreme knowledge in Orthopedics. So it will be helpful for your future professional career.

 Eligibility

The aspiring MS Orthopedics candidates must complete their MBBS Course and have the degree with them with at least 55% marks or higher from any college or University recognized by the MCI. Apart from that, the candidates must have completed their rotating internship during MBBS and carry permanent registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any other registration with the State Medical Council.

Admission Process

The application process for MS Orthopedics is conducted in the following manner –

·         The students aiming to pursue MS Orthopedics have to apply for entrance examination and successfully secure their rank in the examination.

·         There are various entrance examinations conducted by different colleges and universities all over India.

·         Students can pick the best possible college for MS Orthopedics and sit for their respective Entrance Examination.

·         Once the students have cleared the entrance examinations, the admission process for MS Orthopedics will start.

·         The selected candidates will be called to attend the counseling session conducted by the different colleges and the universities.

·         The counseling session shall include Group discussion round and Personal Interview Round.

·         In these stages the students will be judged by different medical experts and the general aptitude of the candidates for MS Orthopedics will be valued.

·         Finally, a complete merit list will be brought out by the University or the college containing the names of the successful candidates. The seat allotment of such candidates will be made and admission formalities will be observed.  

Entrance Exams

Various Entrance Examinations are conducted for admission in MS Orthopedics by different colleges and universities. Some of the popular entrance examinations for MS Orthopedics are –

·         AIIMS PG– It is an online computer –based entrance examinations conducted by the AIIMS New Delhi for the admission in different PG Courses like MD, MS, DM, MDS, and M.Ch. The duration of the examination is 3 hours for 200 questions.

·         NEET PG – It is a computer based MCQ Examination conducted by the National Board of Examination for admission in different courses including MD, MS and PG Diploma in different sectors. The duration of the examination is 3hrs. 30 minutes having a total of 300 questions.

·         PGIMER– This entrance examination is especially designed for the candidates pursuing MS, MD, MDS and DM. It is a computer-based MCQ type examination conducted by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. For MS and MD students there will be 250 questions and the duration for that is 3 hours.

·         JIPMER PG– This online test is conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute of PostGraduate Medical Education and Research PostGraduate, Pondicherry. It offers 19 MD Course 5 MS courses. The duration of the examination is 3 hrs with the minimum eligibility MBBS.
