M.Tech. CAD (Computer Aided Design)/ CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) is a 2- year post graduate course with 4 semesters in 2 years. 3 semesters contain theoretical subjects and workshops and the last one requires research/ project work.
CAD/CAM engineering is a specialization in operation, use and application of computer software to create design for a variety of industries. It is aimed at building drafting skills in electronic structures. M. Candidates interested in learning the discipline at an advanced level with ample knowledge of computer- based tools, techniques and methods employed in product- designing may opt for this program. The course is suited for candidates with potential to develop the product in the R&D section of the industry in a shorter time while gaining a substantial foothold in the market.
M.Tech. CAD/CAM: Course Duration
M.Tech. CAD/CAM is a 2-year course having 4 semesters with each year divided into 2 semesters. At the end of each semester, performance of candidates is evaluated on the basis of performance in written tests, seminars, assignments and project work.
Candidates having completed B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/ Production Engineering are eligible to pursue M.Tech. CAD/CAM. Aspiring candidates need to have scored a minimum aggregate score of 60% in graduation.
Additionally, they are required to qualify the GATE exam for pursuing M. Tech from any of the IITs and NITs. For admission to other engineering colleges, aspiring candidates need to clear the college- level entrance exam. The average tuition fee charged in India for pursuing of M. Tech in CAD/CAM ranges between INR 1. 14 and 2.11 lacs p.a.
Aspiring candidates wishing to take admission to the course at any of the NITs or IITs need to score a good percentile in GATE. Merit list of candidates is prepared on the basis of marks obtained by them in GATE, and, accordingly, students are admitted to M.Tech. CAD/CAM course.
