B. Tech. Polymer
Engineering is an undergraduate degree course in Engineering. B. Tech Polymer
Engineering is a four-year-long course. Having passed 10+2 or equivalent exam
from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as recommended
subjects, a candidate may apply for this course.
B.
Tech Polymer Engineering is a discipline of engineering which acquaints the
students with the knowledge and skills needed for the production of polymers.
Polymers are rubber, plastics, adhesives, resin, and fibers combined together.
Polymer engineering is all about the study of methods and technique for
efficient production and use of polymers.
Polymer Engineering calls for the candidates who are organized, can work well
in teams, have an analytical bent of mind and possess excellent communication
skills. Since this field requires innovation, candidates with a creative
imagination would be a good fit. The students who dream of making a career in
engineering and contribute something radical can take this course and fulfill
this dream.
The
aspirants having a strong interest in process design, thermodynamics, transport
phenomena, and plant design are meant for B. Tech Polymer Engineering. The
intense nature of this course means that students aspiring to pursue should not
be averse to hard work.
Eligibility
To be eligible for B.
Tech Polymer Engineering, a candidate must have passed senior secondary
examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects from a
recognized board.
The
most common route to this program is entrance exam.
Since
entrance exam is the preferred mode, the candidates with their results awaited
in senior secondary examination are permitted to apply for the course.
Admission Process
For admissions in B.
Tech Polymer Engineering, the most common path goes through entrance exams.
Most of the institutes conduct their own tests for purpose of admission and
take admissions on the basis of scores in the test. Such tests are BSAUEEE,
TNEA, and KCET etc. However, there are some colleges that take scores of JEE.
Anna
University doesn’t take any entrance test but conducts TNEA. It is a detailed
procedure of counseling where candidates are selected on the basis of their
scores in senior secondary examination.
Lateral
Entry
There are some
institutes which offer a lateral entry to B. Tech Polymer Engineering.
Maharashtra Institute of Technology offers 3 year program to the candidates who
have a diploma in engineering in relevant stream. The lateral entry in College
of Engineering Roorkee for B. Tech Polymer Engineering can be taken by the
candidates by qualifying UKSEE exam on merit basis, passing B.Sc. with
Mathematics and a Diploma in Engineering or equivalent examination with a
score of minimum 60%.

JEE: This exam is
conducted in the months of December and January. It is a national level exam
and its scores are largely accepted everywhere.
KCET: Conducted
by Karnataka Examination Authority, this exam is held in the month of May every
year. It is a state level course so the scores are accepted by the universities
in Karnataka.
BSAUEEE: It
is the entrance exam held in April every year conducted by BS Abdur Rehman
University for admissions in undergraduate engineering courses.
UKSEE: It
is a state level exam conducted in June every year in Uttarkhand Technical
University of Dehradun which offers admission in engineering courses at various
institutes.
There
