B. Tech. Automotive Design Engineering is an undergraduate level engineering course which trains the students on a range of topics including designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of automobiles. This 4-year long course includes a wide array of topics on the related aspects of the transportation sector, energy, and environmental concerns, application of fossil and alternative fuels and development of vehicles of the future.

The job of an Automotive Design Engineer is to create ideas or concepts using rough sketches and computer-aided design (CAD) programs for the visual appearance as well as the functional performance to develop the vehicles. The lucrative field of designing demands a strong portfolio or sample work of designs which may include 2D drawings or 3D art pieces for the placement process. Besides that, an internship with automobile industries is mandatory in almost all the universities to develop a professional portfolio, thereby vital in securing permanent employment after the successful completion of the graduation.
