engineering. It is a rather lesser known B.Tech specialization when compared to
giants like Mechanical and Computer Science but it is one of the rapidly
growing industry.

Industrial
Biotechnology targets to enable the engineers to utilize biotechnology for
various industrial applications like the manufacturing of new products and
biomaterials, obtain alternative energy and biofuels. This branch of science
blends the principles of biology and chemistry by using living organisms like
bacteria and enzymes for productive developments in the industrial sector.
The
industrial biotechnology community accepts an informal divide between the
fields of industrial and pharmaceutical biotechnology. There are two different
views pertaining to Industrial Biotechnology. One holds that this is simply an
industrial production whereas the other states that Industrial Biotechnology
will not strictly lie within the domain of pure industrial production, given
its inclusion within medical biotechnology.
Eligibility
The
eligibility criteria for the B.Tech in Industrial Biotechnology is a pass in
10th grade and a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics,
and Chemistry or any other or any technical vocational subject the senior
secondary examinations. Various institutes have their own criteria and protocol
for admissions.

Although some
institutes provide direct merit-based admission on the qualifying
exams, the admission process in most of the institutes is based on entrance
examinations.
