M.E. in
CAD/CAM is a 2- year post graduate course with 4 semesters in 2 years.
Eligibility to which is bachelors degree such as B. Tech in Mechanical
Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/ Production Engineering with minimum 60% in
aggregate. Admission is based on entrance exam like GATE or some exam conducted
by own university or institute.

in CAD/CAM: What is it about?
CAD/CAM
engineering is a specialization in operation, use and application of computer
software to create design for a variety of industries. It is aimed at building
drafting skills in electronic structures. M. Tech in CAD/CAM imparts, through a
holistic curriculum, skills to apply computer and scientific principles to
solve problems related to manufacturing.
Candidates
interested in learning the discipline at an advanced level with ample knowledge
of computer- based tools, techniques and methods employed in product- designing
may opt for this program. The course is suited for candidates with potential to
develop the product in the R&D section of the industry in a shorter time
while gaining a substantial foothold in the market.

in CAD/CAM: Eligibility
Candidates
having completed B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/
Production Engineering are eligible to pursue M. Tech in CAD/CAM. Aspiring
candidates need to have scored a minimum aggregate score of 60% in graduation.
Additionally, they are required to qualify the GATE exam for pursuing
this course from any of the IITs and NITs. For admission to other engineering
colleges, aspiring candidates need to clear the college- level entrance
exam.

in CAD/CAM: Admission Process
Aspiring
candidates wishing to take admission to the course at any of the NITs or IITs
need to score a good percentile in GATE. Merit list of candidates is prepared
on the basis of marks obtained by them in GATE, and accordingly students are
admitted to the course.
Admissions to
the course in IITs or NITs are based on candidates’ performance in the nationally
conducted GATE. Some colleges give 70% weightage to the GATE scores and
30% weightage to performance in the written test conducted by the concerned
college/ university.
