Overview
The
course has been designed to address the ever-expanding commercial innovations
in the fashion industry. Constant developments are taking place in the field of
textiles. The course is about all aspects of various materials, fabrics, and
applications used to make quality clothing and the textile industry’s extremely
large scope in the commercial market.
It
is an advanced study of the processes that are involved in manufacturing and
management of clothing and apparels, technical and analytical skills required
for designing new products, processes involved in the production of goods that
are sold across various markets and intricacies of the textile supply chain.
Such postgraduates cab pursues professional opportunities in research
laboratories as well.
Textiles
are an industry where innovations in process as well as product are required to
effectively integrate all aspects of design, technology, retail and management.
To address this, the Textile Design, Fashion and Management research group is
multi-disciplinary and covers areas as diverse as applied management, textile
design, colour, trend forecasting, retail management, fashion merchandising,
supply chain management, CAD, digital design, consumer behavior, internet
shopping, retail marketing, product development, enterprise and innovation.
Eligibility:
Candidate should have passed the
Bachelor's degree (after 10+2) offered by a recognised university.

A Textile Designer
creates 2-dimensional designs that are used often as repeat designs. Their
creations are used in the production of knit, weaved, and printed fabrics. Such
designs can also be used on other textile products. They may work in both
industrial and non-industrial locations, and can also specialize in a
particular field within the textile industry.
Textile
Technologist
Textile Technologists
experiment with dyeing and production processes involved in the textile
industry. Their job is to communicate with suppliers of handloom to get the
right fabric with satisfactory price. These technologists work in supervisory
or management departments and run a team of people. Textile Technologist are
involved with all the departments of a textile industry, whether it is
production, quality control, sourcing or research, or the development sector.

Textile Mill Managers
are responsible for supervising all phases of plant operations that include
production of material, quality control, maintenance, supplying, shipping, and
import-export. Their responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and training of
new staff and personnel, and focusing on capital improvements.
