About M. Sc. Geology

M. Sc. Geology or Master of Science in Geology is a postgraduate degree program. It is a program for two years and is the scientific study of the workings and design of the earth and its layers. The basic eligibility for this course is Bachelor’s degree in science. Admission is done either on the basis of entrance test depending on the criteria.

Eligibility Of the Master of Science [M.Sc] (Geology)

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to M. Sc. Geology is that the student must have a B. Sc. (Hons.) degree with Geology as one of the major subjects in their undergraduate program from any recognized university with around 50%- 60% marks in the main subject depending on the university a candidate is applying to.

How to Get Admission in Master of Science [M.Sc] (Geology)

The major mode of admission to M. Sc. Geology is through the entrance exam conducted by the respective university and colleges. The general format of the entrance exam is objective type multiple choice questions and on the basis of the performance in the entrance exam, students are granted admission.

Selection Process:

The colleges which conduct the entrance exam select the students on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam. The entrance exams test their basic knowledge about geology. The colleges which do not conduct entrance exam select candidates on the merit basis and their criterion of selection is based on the academic achievements of the students and the marks obtained by them in their undergraduate course.
