M.Tech. in Construction Engineering and Management: What is it About?

Construction Engineering is a part of the discipline of Civil Engineering and involves the concepts of the designing and planning processes of a building or such architecture. It consists of processes like construction and management of infrastructures, such as roads, dams, tunnels, bridges, airports, railroads, footpaths, buildings, public sanitation, utilities, and other such projects.

Construction Engineering is a more practically-based approach towards projects. Construction Technicians combine skills in civil engineering with the finesse of management. The projects that they are entrusted with, are similar to those of civil managers.

Eligibility for M.Tech. in Construction Engineering and Management

  • Graduation (B.Tech./ B.E.) in IT/ CSE/ EEE/ ECE /Instrumentation & Control from a recognized university.
  •  A minimum aggregate score of 60% at both Higher & Senior Secondary levels (classes 10th & 12th), and at the level of graduation.

    M.Tech. in Construction Engineering and Management: Admission Process

    Admission to the program is based on the candidate’s performance in a relevant entrance test, such as GATE. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the candidate’s comprehensive understanding of the various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering and Technology. A round of counselling is subsequently held, on the basis of which, qualifying student are allotted colleges.

    The following types of aspirants are eligible for appearing in GATE:

    • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2/ Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma), and those awaiting the results of the final years of such programs.
    • Candidates in the second or higher year of the 4-year integrated Master’s degree programs (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology.
    • Candidates in the fourth or higher year of the 5-year integrated Master’s degree programs or Dual Degree programs in Engineering/Technology.
    • Candidates having qualified any of the UPSC/AICTE exams, such as AMIE by the institute of Civil Engineers (India), as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech.
