Overview

Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Embedded Systems and IOT is a full-time two-year postgraduate Engineering course .After completion of 4th semester in B.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering, students have the opportunity to pursue specialisation in Embedded Systems & Internet of Things (IoT).

This technology connects devices to each other, and to the people, who use it in their daily life.
Embedded systems are gaining importance in all aspects of Engineering. It is expected that in the near future no technical device will exist without software-based embedded information technology, based on standardised micro-controller cores. This implies that the design of embedded real-time operating systems will play a dominant role in this field.

Embedded Systems call for real-time operation, maintenance-reliability, and cost-effectiveness, thus placing heavy demands on the accompanying software and hardware. Embedded Systems is an advanced technology combining both software and hardware components. This is used in various domains like Telecom, Industrial, medical, Mobile technology, Automation, Home Automation, Automotive systems, Airplanes, Vending machines Military, and Toys.

Using Embedded Systems, a variety of sophisticated systems can be developed, such as smartphones, infusion pumps, pedometers, infotainment systems, TV, electronic gadgets, fridge, and AC, among others. Embedded Systems are employed in applications such as Product Designing, Software, Product Development, Hardware, Firmware, RTOS development, PCB designing, and Testing.

·         IoT design considerations, constraints and interfacing between the physical world and your device will also be covered.

·         Make design trade-offs between hardware and software.

·         Cover key components of networking to ensure that students understand how to connect their device to the Internet.

·         Study how various trends have enabled the Internet of Things, and how it changes the way design is performed.

·         Participate in regular open house interactions to discuss some of the ramifications that IoT is having on society today.

Eligibility

A candidate must have passed Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.Tech/B.E) from any recognized university in the concerned discipline.

 

Admission Process

The admission process for the course is varied, as various institutes have their very own criteria and processes of admission. Admission to the course for students with a graduating score of up to 50% is often based on the candidate’s performance in a relevant entrance exam, followed by a round of counselling, wherein the student’s general aptitude for the course is examined, and based on performance in which, students are admitted.

Some of the major entrance exams held in the country for admission to the course are MAT, CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, and GATE.
