Overview

Master of Technology in Medical Instrumentation is Two years full-time PG programme To enable the student develop a vocabulary of appropriate medical terminology and to help the student learn to identify and describe the microscopic and macroscopic anatomy of the structures involved in the above body systems. To also describe the various tools used in health care and how they are used in the diagnosis and cure of pathological conditions and to demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between anatomy and physiology by using anatomical knowledge to predict physiological consequences.

Medical instruments come in various materials, shapes, and sizes. The materials and design affect their cleanability. Instruments with long, narrow lumens, hinges, and crevices present a greater challenge to the cleaning process than solid planar instruments.

A medical device is any device intended to be used for medical purposes. Medical devices benefit patients by helping health care providers diagnose and treat patients and helping patients overcome sickness or disease, improving their quality of life. Significant potential for hazards are inherent when using a device for medical purposes and thus medical devices must be proved safe and effective with reasonable assurance before regulating governments allow marketing of the device in their country. As a general rule, as the associated risk of the device increases the amount of testing required to establish safety and efficacy also increases. Further, as associated risk increases the potential benefit to the patient must also increase.

Eligibility

A candidate must have passed Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.Tech/B.E) from any recognized university in the concerned discipline.

Admission Process

Admission to M.Tech Courses is conducted on the basis of postgraduate engineering entrance exams conducted either by the institutes or the state.

Candidates who secure qualifying marks in the entrance exams have to appear for counselling and personal interview rounds to evaluate the technical skills of the students.

Final selection is done on the basis of marks in M.Tech entrance exam as well as personal interview.
