Stream: Engineering
Duration: 2 Years
Course: Robotics Engineering
Course Type: Post Graduation
M.Tech. in Robotics Engineering is a 2- year long course divided into 4 semesters, with each semester lasting a period of 6 months. The program is designed for eligible candidates interested in designing, controlling and creating robotic systems.
Students enrolled to the course are taught automation, robotics engineering, and contexts and environments of robotics- creation on an advanced level. Automation and Robotics Engineering programs usually require candidates to complete live projects wherein they are needed to design, create and control successful robotic devices. Additionally, they are needed to research and write theses.Through the curriculum, students have the option of choosing from several different robotics specialties such as Industrial Robotics, Robotics Theory, Healthcare Robotics, Aerospace Robotics, Computer Software Robotics, Automotive Robotics and others.
Robotics is defined as the scientific study of the design and make of robots. Robotics has various areas of specialization and the subject deals with the designing of robots, their maintenance, and development of new applications and research in the area. Along with design and construction, the branch also deals with the operation, structural disposition, manufacture, and application of robots. The course covers important aspects of modern robotics such as Autonomous Systems, Field Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Mobile Robots, Embedded Systems, Modeling and Control Systems.
Course Duration
M.Tech. in Robotics Engineering is a 2- year long course spread over four semesters. The first year of the course focusses on theoretical classes and practical exposure, whereas the last year essentially focuses on dissertation and project submission.
Candidates wishing to apply for the course need to meet the following minimum criteria of eligibility:
Many institutes prefer students with professional experience, therefore, it is advised for candidates to acquire a work experience of a minimum of 24 months. Also, candidates with two years of relevant work experience are exempted from appearing in GATE, provided their candidature is sponsored by the employer.
Eligible candidates are required to qualify a relevant entrance examination followed by a round of group discussion. Subsequently, qualifying candidates are needed to go through additional rounds of personal interview as the final stage in the process of selection. The main entrance exam held in India for admission to the course is GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).GATE is an All-India examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The entrance exam is primarily held for admission to post graduate courses in the field of engineering, technology, architecture and science.
The online test is a multiple- choice and numerical- type exam divided into three sections, namely General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and the specialty subject.
However, a few colleges also have their own entrance examinations such as Manipal Institute of Technology and UPES (written tests and interview), and admission procedures in place for selecting and admitting candidates.
