Master of
design or M.Des is a postgraduate degree program of 2 years and is
specially pursued by those having keen interest in the artistic field. Some of
the top colleges offering the course in India are National Institute of
Design [NID] Gandhinagar, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Industrial
Design Centre, Indian Institute Of Technology etc.
Master of
design in India consists of 4 semesters. The students study various major and
minor courses in the field of User Experience & Interaction Design,
Industrial Design, and Visual Communication, etc for three semesters, whereas
in the last semester every student is required to present industrial
dissertation.
Master
of Design Admission Process
After getting
the degree in hand, one can even proceed with a Ph.D. in Design to discover the
industry more thoroughly. The chances of visiting abroad for work and research
becomes high after acquiring a higher degree like Ph.D.
Students with
a keen eye over color sensitiveness, structures, perception, aesthetics,
innovation, and an aptitude towards the discipline are selected for this
program.
*Entrance
Test- Most of the top institutes conduct admission through the common
entrance examination called CEED. Some of the institutes like Indian
Institute Of Crafts And Design, University of Petroleum and Energy
Studies and more also conduct their own examinations like NIFT, IICD,UPES
DAT, etc..
*Application-
Post qualifying the entrance exams and meeting the eligibility criteria of the
stream one wants to apply, filling up an application for a specific
institute is to be done.
*Personal
Interview- This is the last and final step of selection by universities post
successfully clearing the entrance and application.

of Design Eligibility
Students
wanting to pursue a postgraduate degree in the design field should fulfill the
following criteria before applying.
*The
applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in Design or in any stream from
a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
*They should
have qualified the entrance examination conducted for the design courses.
