Overview
Ph.D.
Physiology or Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology is Doctorate Physiology
course. Physiology seeks to addresses how the individual aspects of molecular,
cellular, tissue and organ function relates to whole organism function and how
perturbations from the external environment effect these processes. Program
offers a core curriculum designed to provide a fundamental knowledge base in:
physiology; molecular biology; biochemistry; biostatistics; and current
research topics in physiology, plus we incorporate flexibility for each student
to develop both an academic and research program centered on their individual
interests.
The
qualification criteria for Ph.D. Physiology are holding a post graduate degree
in relevant subject or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Such postgraduates
are hired in capacities such as Lecturer & Professor, Psychologist,
Scientist, Radiology Coder, Psychotherapist, Counselor, Consultant, Teacher,
Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Clinical Social Worker, Art Therapist,
Practitioner, Medical Coder, Research Associate etc. A Ph.D. in Physiology is
designed to train students for a successful career in the medical sciences
through coursework exploring the interrelationships of tissues, cells and
sub-cellular components. Prerequisites for a Ph.D. in Physiology include a
bachelor's degree in a science-related field, qualifying GRE scores, resume
submission, and research published in a reviewed journal.
Throughout
the program, students learn to understand the functions of different biological
systems. They can also gain fundamental knowledge in areas of molecular
biology, biostatistics and biochemistry. Students participate in extensive
laboratory research that can be focused in an area of personal interest, such
as vascular biology, cardiovascular physiology, cellular signaling or pulmonary
physiology. In order to complete the program, students may be required to write
a dissertation.
Required
undergraduate prerequisite courses for a physiology Ph.D. may include physics,
inorganic and organic chemistry, biology, algebra and calculus. Physiology
classes help students understand the chemical processes and functions of
humans, animals and plants. The curriculum gives students hands-on laboratory
instruction related to cells, genetics, mechanisms and processes of the body,
including the nervous system and other organs. Students will also focus on
interrelationships between healthy and diseased tissues.
They
should be able to assess lifestyle behaviors such as physical activity
patterns, eating habits, stress levels and readiness to exercise. They must
have skills to perform comprehensive functional capacity evaluations like
physical fitness, posture and muscle balance, task-specific biomechanical
analysis and motor control assessments. They should be able to perform exercise
tests, in particular assessment of cardio-respiratory and metabolic function;
and to prescribe physical activity and exercise programs to maintain and
promote good health.
Eligibility
A
candidate must hold a post graduate degree in relevant subject or equivalent
with at least 50% marks in aggregate to be eligible to apply for Ph.D. in
Physiology.
Admission
Process
The
application procedures will be different for different Universities. There will
be online mode and offline mode of application in most of the Universities.
Applicants can contact the official address of the University, which they wish
to study the course for procuring PhD entrance exam form along with prospectus.
`
After
correctly filling the forms, applicants have to send it to the University
official address prior to the last date. They must also attach pertinent
credentials mentioned in the brochure along with the forms.
Career
Prospects
Career
openings for candidates are everlasting for a Psychologist. They can get
opportunities in private and government organizations. Psychologists are hired
in different colleges, universities and schools, hospitals, clinics, government
organizations, and so on. Nations like Europe, USA, New Zealand and Australia
are the famous spots for career openings.
The
work in psychology is to increase in a couple of years. Many career
opportunities will open in the clinics and as the school psychologist. Because
of more demand in healthcare services focuses, hospitals, Physiology centers,
social health administrations and schools will prompt the development of work
in psychology sector. With the increase in population, mental issues, physical
issues the need of clinician is growing. There are various divisions offer for
the psychology degree holder's. You can work in different psychology
departments in various hospitals.
